Landscape Paintings featuring Poppy flowers. A written tutorial on light and shadow & line and movement.

Making a light source in painting.
Using the rising sun for the creation of light and shadow is essential in providing depth to the image. The sketch depicts a flat landscape divided by horizontal lines to step back in to the distance from the fore ground where poppy heads are illustrated, to the sea horizon in the back ground.

Creating a Poppy Painting - A work in progress

I would like to show you how to create a painting from the initial composition sketch to the finished Acrylic painting on canvas. I work in block colour, thinking constantly about complimentary colour arrangement, trying to bring the subject of the painting to life. I outline the subject matter so it reads as individual parts to the composition.

The blue sky heightens the painting, as blue detracts and gives illusion of depth

Cotswolds contemporary artist

Welcome to The watercolours website and thank you for reading my latest post..

I'm a contemporary artist now living in the beautiful Cotswold town of Stow on the Wold.

I also own a painting and decorating business which prides itself on quality. Towards the end of 2014 I had an opportunity to do some mural art paintings for the children of one of my customers which was great fun.

The artist in me was alive and kicking and the wall art work led to me getting my acrylic paints out at home again, something I hadn't had time to do in the last year or so.

At the start of 2015 I decided to visit the Fosse Gallery in Stow square to ask about displaying some of my canvas paintings.

I'm hoping to get some of my art work displayed in the local art galleries around the local area in the near future so please look out for my paintings.

In the mean time I will also be updating my gallery website so please pop in for a look at what's new over the next few weeks.

If you are looking for someone genuine, reliable and passionate to freshen up your life with paint, maybe a painting on canvas or even redecorating your home then I would be happy to hear from you.

You contact me any time on 07943 724132 or email kokoblue@hotmail.co.uk

Happy 2015 to all,

Sam

"Jenny's kitchen" Painting for Clyde and family,

The Owl and the Pussycat painting

Painting on canvas advice

The owl and the pussy cat went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat. They took some honey and plenty of money wrapped up in a five pound note. The owl looked up to the stars above and sang to his sweet guitar, oh pussy, oh pussy, oh pussy my love    what a beautiful pussy you are. You are. What a beautiful pussy you are. They sailed away for a year and a day to the land where the bong trees grow. And there in a wood a piggy wig stood with a ring through the end of his nose.

Christmas time for Tim and family

This was a painting from last year 2010. It was inspired by a sky I saw whilst out on the quad. The summer night had drawn to a close and the sky's colour and cloud texture looked so miss-matched it could only be conveyed in the marriage of different mediums. I love the cut in the composition between the heavens and earth.
